Inside 5 Spectacular Homes — Including the Historic Townhouse of Third Eye Blind’s Lead Singer

Inside 5 Spectacular Homes — Including the Historic Townhouse of Third Eye Blind's Lead Singer

In this full-length episode of Open House, host Sara Gore invites interior design enthusiasts into five absolutely stunning homes located in Palm Beach, San Francisco, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles.

We kick things off at the beautiful townhouse of Stephan Jenkins, lead singer of Third Eye Blind. The award-winning producer, artist, and songwriter shows us around his beautiful historic residence located in the city’s vibrant Mission District — on the same block that Third Eye Blind filmed their very first video for the hit track “Semi-Charmed Life.” His residence, built in the 1870s, has been both a labor of love and testament to his design personality as he patiently has restored back to its Italianate Victorian glory over the past decade. From the original wainscoting & surf-inspired graffiti art that immediately greets you upon entering through the door to the front parlor that exudes a sense of elevated connectivity with its cantilevered windows, Tiffany chandelier, and captivating paintings — including a piece (his favorite!) by his best friend and former bandmate Leo’s mother — Jenkins’ home — this townhouse teems with light, creativity, and interesting stories. (And if you’re craving more, be sure to check out Third Eye Blind in a city near you during their tour this summer.)

Next, we sail over to Palm Beach, Florida to explore 10 Tarpon island: a contemporary take on classic Palm Beach architecture with lush landscaping, gorgeous views of West Palm Beach, and a cool $187,500,000 price tag. Join agent Christopher Leavitt and owner & builder Todd Michael Glaser for a tour of this recently completed and sumptuous private compound that boasts 21,406 sq ft of upscale amenities including: 11 palatial bedrooms with massive walk-in closets, 15 bathrooms, 7 half-baths; a glamorous formal living room with coffered ceilings, hardwood floors with metal detailing, and a wall of windows that help create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience; a state-of-the-art fitness room; an elegant library with its own wet bar; entertainment space equipped with a billiards table and movie lounge; a custom Italian kitchen with the finest of finishes, including handpicked marble; and a wellness wing that features a massage room, beauty parlor, and sauna. Outside, the property provides even more options for keeping boredom at bay through means of a clay tennis court, outdoor kitchen, two different pools, a cold plunge, and two separate boat docks (including one that is 180ft long).

Our next stop in this episode encourages us to ponder the following question: Would you pour some money into sprucing up your rent-stabilized apartment? If you happen to have a keen eye for interior design and there’s room for creativity and potential, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t turn a blank canvas into the home of your dreams — especially if you plan on setting roots in the area. Case in point: Brigette Muller’s gorgeous apartment, which is nestled in a 1920s building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. See how the talented DIY content creator transformed a 560 sq ft railroad-style home into a cozy French-inspired oasis that brims with personality, joy, and soft romantic touches throughout.

After that, we drop by the lovely Silver Lake home of Francesca Grace. See how this Los Angeles-based designer and stager celebrates her love of vintage glamour through an “Italian elegance meets French countryside” aesthetic. From the maximalist-yet-grounding monochromatic living room with its earthy green tone, reupholstered sofa, and forest-themed wallpaper to the delightful dining room with its orange chairs, peach-toned accents, and a textured onyx table that serves as the focal point, this home teems with eclectic charm.

Last but certainly not least, we head over to New York’s Sutton Square with Yue-Sai Kan, a television host and beauty executive so successful that it earned her the moniker the “Oprah of China.” Her vast townhouse, which spans over 8,500 square feet, is a testament to her many accolades as well as a lifetime of travel. Serenity, movement, and tradition blend together through an “East meets West” aesthetic; and with its classic New York City furniture, jaw-dropping tapestry from India comprised of semi-precious stones, and unique Chinese antiques, it’s safe to say that Kan’s home is full of love and extraordinary feng shui.

Full Episode: Capturing Personality through Interior Design | Open House TV

Full Episode: Capturing Personality through Interior Design | Open House TV

In this week’s episode of Open House, our glamorous host Sara Gore guides us through five exquisite homes located in New York, California, and New Jersey.

First up: Welcome to 128 Central Park South, 15A. Andrianna Shamaris invites Open House viewers into her lovely New York City apartment, located in a pre-war building on the iconic “Billionaire’s Row.” Much like the renowned furniture designer’s eponymous showroom and studio in SoHo, this 2-bedroom abode showcases her love of travel and curated style and features high-beamed ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and postcard-worthy views of Central Park. From the foyer that provides an immediate wow factor upon entry to the antique wooden furniture situated throughout the home to the tightly knitted shell inlay doors separating the great room from the minimalist-yet-functional kitchen, this inviting space — a collaborative renovation between Shamaris and architect Thomas Leeser — is a true treasure trove of rare pieces from around the world and effortlessly fuses an easygoing downtown vibe with classic uptown living.

After that: We join artist and creative director Bethany Brill in Costa Mesa to explore her dreamy family home that seamlessly uses plywood as the canvas for exploring materiality. Built in 1980 with an aesthetic that leans toward warm minimalism, this inviting California abode — inspired by the height and light of New York City lofts — features an abundance of calming colors, original art, and modular furniture that can easily be rearranged when the mood for change strikes.

Next: Step inside a sprawling home in the sky, complete with sweeping panoramic views of New York City. Interior designer Melanie Calder Russo shows us around a 6220 sq ft duplex that was a total dream project, largely in part to her client giving her free reign of the space. All they wanted was something chic yet comfortable and stylish yet inviting — and the rest was up to her. From the hammered bronze-paneled floating wall that greets you upon entering this apartment to the five rings of light in the dining area suspended over a handmade walnut-and-bronze dining table to help amp up the drama and emphasize the 22-ft floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s evident that this modern abode — originally, a combination of two separate units —features plenty of glamour, luxury, and bespoke touches.

We then zip over to the West Coast to 615 N Faring Road: a luxurious $45,000,000 resort-style estate in Los Angeles, California. Located within a private neighborhood in Holmby Hills, California, this 6-bedroom, 12-bath one-of-a-kind residence spans three levels and boasts 17661 square feet of contemporary architectural finishes, dramatic design, and exceptional amenities. Owner and developer Shawn Kohen leads us through three spacious levels that include: a formal living room with 14 ft. ceilings and a 3D stone fireplace; an entertainment space with a cozy movie theater and bar; a kitchen that features a breakfast seating area, a dual-service island, and bronze Venice stone touches; an outdoor oasis with a zero-edge infinity pool; a water-feature atrium that separates the home’s wellness center from its gaming area; and a rooftop deck with 3000 sq ft of relaxation space and gorgeous views.

We finish the episode with a trip to Montclair, NJ, where interior designer Andrew Suvalsky shows us around his “labor of love”: a renovated midcentury family home that maximizes light and flow. Thanks to a complete gut renovation, Suvalsky was able to utilize the space to its greatest potential. From the entry foyer with the Venetian plaster on the ceiling and the wild ceramic tiles that lead all the way to the kitchen, to the versatile living room that features a color scheme of bright blues, golden yellows, and black & white, and is filled with a variety of interesting light options (art lights, floral lamps, and recess lights in the ceilings to create unique lighting for different moods through the day), to the open kitchen and dining space with its walnut cabinetry, white accents, and whimsical-yet-moody wallpaper, this stunning abode strikes the perfect balance between being functional yet stylish.

Full episode: Classic Meets Modern in These Spectacular Homes | Open House TV

Full episode: Classic Meets Modern in These Spectacular Homes | Open House TV

In this all-new episode of Open House, host Sara Gore leads us through five spectacular properties located in California, New York, and Massachusetts that serve as prime examples of classic style meets contemporary design.

We kick off this episode with Ian Slater, who invites into a stunning duplex penthouse located in the heart of the West Chelsea Gallery District at 455 West 20th St — a condominium built by architect Alan Wanzenberg that’s situated within the grounds of the General Theological Seminary. Occupying 3,800 sq ft, this 4-bedroom residence seamlessly dovetails old-world charm with elegant upgrades and features custom millwork, gorgeous hardwood herringbone flooring, and ample natural light.

Next, architects Colin Flavin and Heather Souza, who take us inside the Wales House in Lincoln, Massachusetts — a 1958 modernist home that was originally designed by Henry Hoover and Walter Hill and respectfully seeps into the natural topography surrounding it with an entry stairway that floats over existing glacial stone. Tasked with updating this mid-century modern space for a growing family, the Flavin Architects duo focused on opening the interior of the home while incorporating innovative materials that honor the bones of the original architecture. Recent additions from this one-story renovation include a car port building, yoga studio with a wall of glass that opens into a sunlit courtyard, and main living area that embraces their firm’s “natural modernism” design principles: open flow, ample light, and visual connection to the breathtaking landscape.

We then journey to Pasadena, California to join curator Jennifer Trotoux for a tour of the iconic Gamble House: a national landmark in the U.S. and classic example of American Arts & Crafts architecture. Built in 1908 by architects Greene and Greene as a winter escape for David and Mary Gamble, who lived in Cincinnati the rest of the year, this well-preserved masterpiece features many distinctive design elements and handcrafted details, including: beautiful joinery throughout the home; motifs such as the family crest and unique inlays that showcase a variety of special materials; an exterior that shows the Greene and Greene’s interest in implementing Japan’s timber architecture throughout Southern California; and a living room with an inglenook that places emphasis on the hearth, a library table, and a Redwood frieze that incorporates the theme of Japanese art and nature into the home.

Interior design Libby Langdon then invites Open House viewers into one of her recent projects: a bright and airy apartment in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood where she offers us some fun design tips and inspiration, including how to seamlessly incorporate different elements into one cohesive design. The real drama begins when you step off the elevator and into the foyer with its texture linear wallpaper and a circular motif. This curved theme continues in the dining room with barrel-back chairs and key places such as with the hardware on the console, base of the table, and the light crystal chandelier. And while the apartment is predominantly styled in neutral tones, Langdon infused pops of color throughout with large art to help make an impactful style statement.

As for the last stop in this week’s episode? A regal estate in Burbank, California known as “The Burbank Castle.” Scott Rosenthal takes us on a tour of all 5,300 square feet of this stunning property that features unique architectural details such as hand-painted murals and an accordion glass elevator. With its beautiful, distressed beams and completely unobstructed panoramic views of The Valley, this Victorian Tudor-style home is filled with luxurious touches and custom craftsmanship, including a Venetian-painted ceiling in the dining room, stained glass windows in the bedroom that usher in an abundance of natural light, and a one-of-a-kind lion’s den with two vantage points.

HOME TOURS: Stunning Renovations in New York City, Los Angeles & Palm Springs | Open House TV

In this week’s all-new episode of Open House, our wonderful host Sara Gore invites viewers into 5 breathtaking homes full of unique details and stylish design that are located in New York City, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs.

First up: Calli Sarkesh shows us around an exceptional residence located at 122 West 73rd St in New York City. Originally built in 1900 and recently renovated by Murdock Solon Architects, this Upper West Side single-family townhouse spans over 6,600 sq ft and boasts 6 levels, 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and — plot twist — THREE powder rooms. From the parlor floor — which serves as the centerpiece of the home and houses a beautiful kitchen, formal dining room with soaring ceilings, and dining room with a fireplace that’s ideal for intimate gatherings —to the primary suite with a sumptuous marble bathroom and 20ft long walk-in closet, a sun deck on the very top floor, and the private sanctuary that is an outdoor bamboo garden, this brownstone teems with elegance and meticulous details.

Next, we zip over to the West Coast to take a look around interior designer Melissa Warner’s latest project: a maximalist home in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles that pays homage to her client’s love of tailored fashion and bespoke luxury, while serving as a masterclass on how to incorporate bold statement pieces to add interesting dimension to a space without having them compete with each other. From the tiger wallpaper in the dark-and-moody foyer that packs an unforgettable wow factor upon entering the house, to the dining room that takes her client’s fondness for beautiful menswear into account with plaid on the rug, bouclair on the chairs, and pleated dressmaker details on the drapery, Warner’s personalized touches show how even in a large space, it’s often the meticulous little details that make a big impression.

After that, we venture over to sunny Palm Springs, California to visit with interior designer Christopher Kennedy as he invites us into his forever home. Built in 1978 and spanning 3200 square feet, this gorgeous home honors the ‘70s aesthetic through neutral tones and interesting touches reminiscent of that era, including: a sumptuous shag rug, a brutalist-style chandelier, curved sofas covered in a beautiful white boucle fabric, textured throw pillows, and more. From the expansive great room with views of the golf course and San Jacinto Mountains right outside to the welcoming kitchen with its sand-colored oak cabinetry that references a desert landscape with a sand mirror tiles with an antique finish that help bounce light around, this home is full of nostalgic statement pieces that pay homage to the original architecture while also serving as a relaxing retreat that’s perfect for entertaining.

We then return to New York City to join architect B. Alex Miller for a tour of the white box Battery Park City apartment that he and his team transformed into a welcoming residence that offers comfort, functionality, and plenty of custom architectural detail. From the marble insertion that greets you at the door to the primary quarter of the apartment that features staggered millwork panels that expand as you move forward and provides visual interest along with storage — and to the main living space that contains the seating area that features a combination of cool & warm tones through the furnishings, anchor rug, and wooden lamps that exudes a warm light in the evening; dining space with a giant airplane-esque pendant hovering above the table that helps give it a sense of place; and a blue Mediterranean marble kitchen that captures the tones of the Hudson River — this home offers a warm, minimal, and inviting respite to the busy city outside.

We finish this week’s Open House episode with a trip to an impressive art-filled Greenwich Village penthouse that was reimagined by Irish-born interior designer Clodagh. She stresses the importance of using holistic design to foster a sense of wellbeing, which becomes evident throughout this glorious duplex loft — especially with the magnificent art collection on display and a transformative environment that is as modern as it is serene.

Full Episode: Style & Influence in New York City and Bel Air | Open House TV

Full Episode: Style & Influence in New York City and Bel Air | Open House TV

Join host Sara Gore for an Open House episode filled with breathtaking estates that redefine luxury and entertainment, as well as the impressively designed homes of style influencers.

We kick things off at 101 Warren Street, apartment 3210. What do you get when you combine two penthouses with an #AD100 designer and an award-winning staging team? This sleek abode. See firsthand how professional stager Cheryl Eisen and her talented team transformed this light-filled modern duplex in Tribeca into an entertainer’s dream home — full of light & airy low-profile furniture; simple textured rugs to create a sense of calm against the striking patterned floors — as well as clear delineation between rooms; and stylish accents (including curved pieces and sculptural chairs in the main living space to add movement, lime-green cabinetry in the kitchen for a pop of color and whimsy, and curated paintings for a modern touch) that further elevate this beautiful home’s indoor-outdoor flow and panoramic views of New York City.

Right after that, we drop by the stunning New York City apartment of lifestyle influencer, entrepreneur, and design enthusiast Patrick Janelle. Located in the vibrant Flatiron District, this stylish loft functions as both his home and office workspace — and embodies an aesthetic that dovetails Parisian elegance with country charm. From the dining room with its antique farmhouse table, midcentury chairs, brass candle scones and high ceilings that are pressed tin to the main living area with its pièce de résistance — a massive mirror that was an architectural salvage — and contemporary lounge sofa, low coffee table, and working wood-burning fireplace enveloped by an exposed brick wall, this dream home is perfect for living, working, and entertaining.

Next up: 1055 Stradella Road! Follow Rayni Williams right through the doors of a 10ft oak entryway as she shows Open House viewers around a brand-new estate in Bel Air, California — and prepare to be mesmerized by its 13.6K square feet of deluxe details. From the dramatic foyer which features a sculptural staircase and cascading chandelier to a spacious grand kitchen with a prominent curved Travertino island to the formal living room that boasts a solid stone mantle piece with built-in bookshelves, this home mixes organic elements with architectural sophistication. Complete with warm and natural finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, 3,000 lb stone soaking tub in the primary suite, and an ocean-facing terrace with an outdoor kitchen, pool area, and views that span from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean, this California property exudes opulence, elegance, and the ultimate indoor/outdoor living vibes.

We then venture over to the Greenwich Village apartment of Danielle Carolan, content creator and co-host of the top-rated podcast “Gals on the Go” — or she lovingly refers to it: Hotel Danielle. Danielle’s goal when designing her home was to create a space that tells a story while exuding ultimate relaxation and luxury vibes. And she achieved this desired aesthetic through plush white couches, oak accents, and pops of color throughout. As for personal touches? There are many delightful ones to point out, including: a frame featuring her collection of matchboxes from favorite restaurants and bars, a Florida license plate from her first car ever, an enviable walk-in closet directly inspired by her obsession with ‘Hannah Montana’ while growing up, and setting up her infamous large OOTD mirror — in all its ornate glory — prominently in her main living area.

We finish the episode with a trip to restaurant entrepreneur Brenna Gilbert’s lovely one bedroom apartment located in the heart of New York City’s Nolita neighborhood, which she shares with her husband Andrew and their adorable bulldog Kuma. Her ethos is “no moment is to small for a celebration” and you soon see this come to life as soon as you step through the door and are greeted with an abundance of verdant greenery — which Brenna purposefully placed there to serve as a breath of fresh air from the bustling city. And because her home is in such a busy area, Brenna uses a cohesive contrast of period pieces and contemporary design, as well as a comfortable and warm atmosphere through soft materials, versatile furniture, meaningful art, and a large area rug to make it feel this sanctuary more calming and zen.
