Inside the 2024 Southern Living Idea House in South Carolina | Open House TV

Introducing the 2024 Southern Living Idea House: a true labor of love and celebration of nature, innovative design, and Lowcountry charm all rolled into one stunning project. Join interior designer Allison Elebash and Southern Living senior home editor Betsy Cribb Watson for a dazzling tour of this year’s #SLIdeaHouse on NBC’s Open House.

Each year, Southern Living magazine builds a house from the ground up to showcase the latest trends in interior design; and this year’s riverfront project, located in South Carolina, will surely take your breath away. Inspired by the quiet farmsteads and the lush natural beauty of Johns Island (a rural coastal community near Charleston) and nestled among majestic moss-covered oaks in the scenic Kiawah community, this newly constructed home took one year to complete and exudes plenty of warmth, elegance, and cozy Charleston style. From its earthy color palette to the tree-lined mural in the entry hall to its mindful incorporation of local art and textiles (including handcrafted sweetgrass baskets) throughout the space, this welcoming abode pays homage to its breathtaking surroundings and tells a unique story of artistry, community, and easygoing indoor-outdoor living.

HOME TOURS: Southern Living Charm & Dreamy Island Vibes | Open House TV (Full Episode)

HOME TOURS: Southern Living Charm & Dreamy Island Vibes | Open House TV (Full Episode)

In this full episode of NBC’s Open House: host Sara Gore leads us through four extraordinary spaces — including a trip to your own private paradise, a beautifully designed New Jersey home, a dreamy NYC loft, and a complete tour of Southern Living’s dazzling 2024 Idea House!

We kick things off with globetrotting architectural designers (and friends) Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper for a tour of their personal retreat. This tranquil secluded estate — a labor of love by the dynamic design duo — has been dubbed the Solenborg Estate and is located on a mountain within a national park on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Not only does the sumptuous villa offer the ideal Caribbean escape with its numerous amenities (including 7 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, al fresco showers, a private gym, a billiards room, two heated pools, ample skylights, and more — all set against a staggering island backdrop), but it also serves as a testament to how bold & innovative design can seamlessly harmonize with nature. As for the best part? The breathtaking views!

Next up: “A well-designed home should have great energy.” This is the mantra that Blanche Garcia abides by when designing homes for her clients. The talented interior designer invites us inside a luxurious townhouse located in Weehawken, NJ that overlooks the Hudson River to show viewers firsthand. While from the outside this home might seem unassuming, the next-level interior — designed for two professionals with a high sense of style — is a sight to behold. See how Blanche combined modern features with bespoke elements (including statues of elephants near the doorway to invite peace, prosperity, and protection, as is custom in Indian culture) to produce a relaxing setting that is both functional and refined.

We then we journey to Charleston to join interior designer Allison Elebash and Southern Living senior home editor Betsy Cribb Watson for a lovely tour of the 2024 Southern Living Idea House: a true labor of love and celebration of nature, innovative design, and Lowcountry charm all rolled into one stunning project. Last but certainly not least, we drop by a stylish New York City loft. Situated right next to Union Square, bar owner and restaurateur Maneesh Goyal’s loft offers an opportune setting for entertaining. The cozy yet cosmopolitan aesthetic of this modern urban home is beautifully accentuated by the large amount of natural light that streams through, as well as personalized details throughout. Not only that, but Maneesh and his husband Andrew have commissioned a hidden mural to represent their family that is the ideal finishing touch to their stylish space.

A History 4-Story Townhouse in Murray Hill with Its Own Landscaped Roof Terrace | Open House TV

Join agent Ian Slater as he shows us around a historic single-family townhouse in Murray Hill. Located at 130 East 38 Street on a calm tree-lined street, this 4-story residence was built in 1869, awarded preservation and landmark designation in 1997, and most recently bought and gut renovated by designer Adena Conway who re-imagined each floor for modern living while preserving its classic exterior and architectural charm. A blend of old NYC and custom contemporary design, this luxury home spans 3,000 square feet and boasts oversized windows, an open-tread staircase fashioned from white oak and steel that opens up the entire space, clean lines, wide-plank white oak floors; and ample natural light throughout.

Other highlights include: a full-floor primary bedroom suite with two large custom closets, electric shades and a four-fixture bathroom adorned in a black-and-white palette of sparkling white Italian tile, nero marquina marble and a glamorous Casablanca Mosaic floor; a front hall featuring sophisticated Armani Casa wallpaper and Allascala marble; a formal living room with a remote-controlled linear gas fireplace and mirrored walnut bar; a bespoke kitchen with 11ft ceilings, waterfall center island, marble countertops, and vintage Danish pendant lights from the 1960s; a sky-lit lower level family room with its own gaming area, kitchenette, dedicated laundry room, bathroom, and wine cellar; and two light-filled guest bedrooms with an additional full bathroom that features a soaking tub; and a landscaped roof terrace that’s perfect for lounging and alfresco dining against the backdrop of the Empire State and Chrysler buildings.

In this ‘Open House’ tour: step inside a vibrant home in the Pacific Palisades that’s the perfect blend of tailored design and casual California whimsy. See how interior designer Melissa Warner incorporated pops of color and unique patterns in a harmonious way to create a warm, cheerful vibe that ranges from bold to serene. From the foyer that includes a tangerine front door and ceiling, an emerald console camel tones, and a sette with hints of fuchsia to turning a space that the client claimed they never use into a functional living room that is one of the best features of the house with its orchid-hued architectural wallpaper that serves as a focal point and spray-painted wall art that reads “Hello, Lover” for some fun juxtaposition, this welcoming abode is full of delightful surprises.

Other noteworthy highlights include: a family room with a soothing color palette, large sectional that’s great for lounging and gathering for movie nights, and a beloved chair that was re-upholstered with an uplifting poppy fabric; and a bedroom that features a lilac headboard propped against soft green patterned wallpaper that is balanced with custom yellow tape set in a Greek key motif, a sunburst-patterned side table, a seating area with a sofa clad in a show-stopping rooster design, and a bench and chair embellished with antique brass nail heads.

Inside ‘Summer House’ Star Jasmine Ellis Cooper’s Hoboken Loft | Open House Tour

Inside 'Summer House' Star Jasmine Ellis Cooper's Hoboken Loft | Open House Tour

Bravo star Jasmine Ellis Cooper shows us around her stunning 1-bedroom loft in Hoboken, NJ.

Upon moving in with her family, the ‘Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’ cast member discovered an opportunity to really make the space her own and thus her designer girl era began. Ellis, who conducts numerous DIY projects on a regular basis, found ways to infuse some extra flair and personality to otherwise standard pieces. For example, she added cement to a white coffee table to give it new life and set up picture molding on the wall herself to showcase her art collection in style. She says that she enjoys striking a balance between masculine and feminine aesthetics and finding unique ways to dovetail her husband’s Liberian heritage and their shared love of film, history, and jazz. Overall, she has turned a blank canvas penthouse into a fun, artsy abode that features functional, cost-effective hacks that are both chic and baby-proof (on account of her adorable newborn son). And from lovely amenities such as 14 ft ceilings, large windows that allow for ample natural light to flow during the day; an airy kitchen with fresh flowers, breakfast nook, and marble-esque contact; an open-concept living room with an exposed brick wall; and decorative touches galore throughout the space (including green throw pillows, a large mural in the primary bedroom, and a vintage vinyl record collection), this residence is as welcoming as it cozy.
