Full Episode: 5 Design-Forward Homes Full of Inspiration & Unique Decor Ideas | Open House TV

Join our lovely host Sara Gore in this week’s all-new episode of Open House for a tour of five stunning, modern homes that are the epitome of imaginative design and indoor/outdoor living.

First, we join the always entertaining Brian Lewis at one of his new listings in the heart of midtown Manhattan at the Baccarat Residencies: a freshly renovated and reinvented duplex apartment — located on the 18th and 19th floors of 20 West 53rd Street — that is the complete embodiment of luxury, beauty, and rarity with its walls of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, integrated fireplace, sunny bedroom suites, marble floors, soaring ceilings, and top-shelf finishes and appliances throughout. 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 2 half baths? A dream kitchen with custom cabinetry, sleek appliances, and a table large enough for any holiday feast? Plus, a huge wraparound terrace that offers plenty of space (over to 3000 square feet of it!) to dine al fresco, play pickleball, and take in gorgeous views of centuries-old architecture, including 30 Rockefeller Center? Yes, please!

Next, we journey to Venice, California at 513 Grand Blvd. for a look around Stewart Burns’ — a writer and producer on the iconic Simpsons and Futurama series — one-of-a-kind sculptural home. This futuristic 4-bedroom private residence, best known as the Tectonic House, features 2,522 square feet of unique angles; imaginative and playful touches (including aerial silks in an entry room called the Tower); a spiral structure (dubbed “The Parasite”) that spirals all the way into the upper reaches of the home and offers plenty of shelving and seating options; large living spaces for members of the family to hang out; and glorious views via a generous roof deck.

After that, we’re back on the East Coast with an exciting look at the 2023 Real Simple Home. What happens when 7 of the brightest stars in interior design team up to work their magic on a completely blank-canvas penthouse? Real Simple’s editor-in-chief Lauren Iannotti answers that question with a tour of this year’s beyond stunning design project: a Brooklyn Heights duplex residence — located at the top of the Quay building at 50 Bridge Park Drive — that is a wondrous symphony of cohesive design and whimsical transformations full of bold colors, anchoring elements, bright patterns and textures, and plenty of depth. And if any of these stunning pieces caught your eye, be sure to shop the look HERE: https://trib.al/YnaLJ7U — and check out the #RSHome2023 October issue for more design ideas, organizing tips, and fun fall decor inspiration!

Next up: 28837 Selfridge Drive in. Malibu, CA. Interested in a taste of the light & airy Little Dume lifestyle? Join architects Silvia Kuhle and Jeffery Allsbrook of Standard Architecture in exploring more of an exquisite 5-bedroom paradise of a home located in sunny Malibu. This open, soothing space features seamless indoor/outdoor living, warm materials, and plenty of natural light throughout. There is a notion of transparency immediately upon entering the home, which is achieved through floor-to-ceiling glass that opens up in the back and front of the property, as well as the floors that extend all the way to the exterior and a fireplace wall that allows you to see through to the dining room from the entry. Additionally, the zen aesthetic is palpable throughout the home, especially the front yard with its sandy, beach vibe, aloe trees, and coastal grasses — and the pool lounging area that is ideal for relaxing and taking in views of the rest of the property (including the floating roof in the middle and then two more enclosed wings on the side).

We top off the episode with a trip to New York City to visit with fashion designer Cynthia Rowley. Sporty, sexy, adventurous are all apt descriptors of Cynthia’s global lifestyle brand. and if you add whimsical, art-inspired, and vintage to the list then you have a pretty good overview of her impressive and eclectic West Village townhouse.
